Fresh Meat for 4,800 Meals Distributed in Jordan

Jordan Udhiyah 2023

AMMAN, JORDAN July 7, 2023 — Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed fresh meat for 4,800 meals to impoverished families as part of the Islamic season of Udhiyah.

Approximately 1,000 families living in Amman, Irbid, Al Mafraq, Al Ramtha, Jerash, Madaba, and Al Balqa were given fresh meat from locally-sourced and humanely-slaughtered sheep.

Beneficiaries included refugees, orphans, widows and people with disabilities, according to Elizabeth Sohail, program development manager at Baitulmaal.

“We distributed meat in 17 camps in the region to ensure families in need received it in time for Eid ul-Adha,” Sohail said. “Nearly 5,000 people were able to include fresh meat in holiday meals, thanks to our generous donors.”

In addition to seasonal Islamic giving programs, Baitulmaal coordinates emergency aid efforts, water, hygiene and sanitation projects, orphan support programs and other humanitarian aid to under-served populations regardless of faith or nationality.
