211K Ramadan Meals Distributed to Families in Ivory Coast

Kenya Ramadan 2024

ABIDJAN, IVORY COAST May 8, 2024 — Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed food packages that provided 211,000 meals to families in Ivory Coast in time for the Ramadan season.

Food packages were distributed to families living in Abidjan. In addition to food packages, 1,000 of the meals were provided during a community iftar where families came together to break their fast with Baitulmaal.

According to Ahmed Sherif, international offices manager at Baitulmaal, most of the beneficiaries were women, orphans, disabled people, or the elderly living in Ivory Coast.

Many families struggle to support their families’ nutritional needs,” Sherif said. “We are thankful to our donors for enabling us to support these families with food packages for the month of Ramadan.”

According to the World Food Programme, food insecurity and malnutrition in Ivory Coast remain widespread, with 34.8 percent of people living below the poverty line.

Baitulmaal is an international humanitarian aid organization that provides life-saving, life-sustaining and life-enriching aid to people in need around the world. With headquarters in Texas, the charity has domestic offices in California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan and New Jersey as well as international offices in Europe, Africa, South Asia and the Middle East.
