Fresh Meat for 6K Meals Distributed in Pakistan

Pakistan Udhiyah 2024

KARACHI, PAKISTAN June 19, 2024 — Baitulmaal, a Dallas-based international humanitarian nonprofit, recently distributed fresh meat for 6,000 meals to impoverished families in Pakistan as part of the Islamic season of Udhiyah.

According to Elora Bashir, program operations manager at Baitulmaal, approximately 1,000 families living in Sindh Province in the Southeastern Region of Pakistan received fresh meat from locally-sourced and humanely-slaughtered cows.

“These families can’t afford fresh meat,” Bashir said. “Children rejoiced in having an amazing meal to celebrate Eid with.”

According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), food insecurity is a major concern for Pakistan, with approximately 37 percent of the population being food insecure.

In addition to providing fresh meat for Udhiyah, Baitulmaal has also provided Ramadan food packages, installed a water filtration plant, delivered emergency aid to flood victims, and supplied winter aid. To learn more about or contribute to these efforts, visit Baitulmaal.org.
