The Need in Afghanistan
Afghanistan is facing one of the most severe humanitarian crises in the world, exacerbated by decades of conflict, economic collapse, and political instability. Over 90% of the population lives in poverty, with millions facing acute food insecurity due to disrupted agriculture, drought, and economic hardship. The situation has worsened since the Taliban takeover in 2021, with international aid reductions and frozen assets further crippling the economy. Nearly 20 million people are in need of urgent food assistance, and malnutrition rates, particularly among children, are alarmingly high.
Access to clean water, healthcare, and education is severely limited, especially for women and girls, whose rights have been drastically curtailed. Humanitarian efforts in Afghanistan focus on providing emergency food aid, improving water and sanitation infrastructure, and supporting healthcare and education initiatives. By addressing these critical needs, we can help Afghan communities survive and rebuild in the face of immense challenges.
