The Need in Jordan

Jordan, despite its relative stability in the region, faces ongoing challenges related to food security, economic hardship, and the strain of hosting a large refugee population. With limited natural resources and high unemployment rates, many Jordanian families struggle to afford basic necessities. Rising food prices, water scarcity, and economic fluctuations have further contributed to food insecurity, particularly among low-income households.

The country is also home to over 1.3 million Syrian refugees, in addition to Palestinian and Iraqi refugees, placing significant pressure on public services, housing, and employment opportunities. While Jordan has made commendable efforts to integrate refugees into its economy and society, access to food, healthcare, and education remains a challenge for both refugees and vulnerable Jordanians.

Humanitarian efforts in Jordan focus on food assistance, improving water and agricultural sustainability, and expanding social support programs. International aid organizations and government initiatives, such as the National Aid Fund, play a crucial role in ensuring food security and economic resilience. Strengthening these support systems is essential for Jordan’s long-term stability and the well-being of both its citizens and refugee communities.
