The Need in Lebanon

Lebanon, once a thriving economy in the Middle East, is grappling with one of the worst economic crises in its history. Hyperinflation, currency devaluation, and political instability have pushed much of the population into poverty, with over 80% of households struggling to afford basic necessities. Food insecurity has worsened as food prices have skyrocketed, making it difficult for many families to access sufficient and nutritious meals.

The situation is further strained by Lebanon’s role as a host to over 1.5 million Syrian refugees, adding pressure on already limited resources, including housing, healthcare, and education. Public services are collapsing, and power shortages, water scarcity, and deteriorating infrastructure have deepened the humanitarian crisis. Malnutrition, especially among children and vulnerable communities, is becoming increasingly alarming.

Humanitarian efforts in Lebanon focus on emergency food aid, economic relief programs, and strengthening healthcare and social support systems. International organizations, along with local initiatives, continue to provide assistance, but sustainable solutions are needed to stabilize the country and improve living conditions for both Lebanese citizens and refugees. Addressing these challenges is crucial to preventing further deterioration and ensuring a path toward recovery.
