The Need in Morocco
In September 2023, Morocco was struck by a devastating earthquake that caused widespread destruction, particularly in the Al Haouz region and surrounding areas. The earthquake claimed thousands of lives, injured many more, and left countless families homeless, with entire villages reduced to rubble. The disaster exacerbated existing vulnerabilities, including food insecurity, limited access to clean water, and inadequate healthcare infrastructure, especially in remote and mountainous regions.
Humanitarian efforts have focused on providing emergency relief, including shelter, food, clean water, and medical supplies, while also addressing the long-term needs of rebuilding homes, schools, and healthcare facilities. The earthquake highlighted the urgent need for resilience-building and disaster preparedness in Morocco. By supporting recovery efforts, we can help affected communities rebuild their lives, restore hope, and create a stronger foundation for the future.
