The Need in Somalia

Somalia faces profound humanitarian challenges, driven by decades of conflict, climate shocks, and economic instability. Over 70% of the population lives in poverty, with millions experiencing acute food insecurity due to recurring droughts, floods, and locust infestations that devastate crops and livestock.

The ongoing conflict and political instability have displaced over 2.9 million people, many of whom live in overcrowded camps with limited access to clean water, healthcare, and education. Malnutrition rates, particularly among children, remain alarmingly high, with many families relying on humanitarian aid for survival. Additionally, access to basic services like healthcare and education is severely limited, especially in rural and conflict-affected areas.

Humanitarian efforts in Somalia focus on providing emergency food aid, improving water and sanitation infrastructure, and supporting healthcare and education programs. By addressing these critical needs, we can help Somali communities build resilience and work toward a more stable and hopeful future.
